This ministry is our response to Jesus’ call, “I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink ”. Matt 25:35.
Our Food Program has been around since 1989, 27 years and counting. Every Tuesday since then, rain or shine, sleet or snow the program goes on. The faithful men and women who volunteer their time and talent in this ministry, know well and understand that hunger persists in good weather and in bad. Short of a national emergency the team is always busy making preparations on Monday and cooking and serving meals on Tuesdays. A weekly average of 200 men, women and children are served with healthy, savory and scrumptious meals. Our guests are served between the hours of 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm. During the summer months July – August, paper bag lunches are served, and throughout the rest of the year a hot meal is offered, with seated dining. This ministry is currently run and organized by Sister Vera Burnett since 1993 with the support and dedication of twenty five other volunteers.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Your support of non-perishable food and gentle used clothing items are always welcomed as we also offer clothing to our patrons. As hospitality is at the cusp of all that we do, any giftedness you may offer in entertaining our patrons with song and music while they dine is welcomed. Do contact the church office if you are able to assist in these areas.
