Pastor’s Welcome & Coronavirus -Church Updates

Pastor PhilipsLet your fingers do the walking! And they have led you to Bethany United Methodist Church’s website. So welcome, and who are we you ask? We are the MOB for Christ. Yes we are; we are the church in the Middle Of the Block, right here on St. Johns Place in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. You will learn about us from our website; what we believe, what our mission is, our history, our ministries, what our life is like here at Bethany. But we are much more than what our website can demonstrate, so why not come and worship with us? Anyone who is seeking Christ is a friend of ours, anyone who is seeking a closer walk with him is a friend of ours, if you are looking for a place to serve your community you are a friend of ours and if you are doing none of the above, you are still a friend of ours! So come check us out at worship or any of the various ministries we participate in. At Bethany, you are always welcomed, at Bethany there is a place for you. God bless, looking forward to meeting you.

Reverend Pastor Cherie Philips (Narcisse)

Grace and Peace to Our Bethanites and visitors.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, and pursuant to New York State Law,  please see the following advisement from the Bishop sent on March 13th.
“Yesterday, the state governments of New York and Connecticut issued a ban of all gatherings of 50 or more persons until further notice. President recommended that everyone avoid contact with groups of more than 10 persons for the next fifteen days.  As a result, I am requiring that all of our churches not conduct public services of worship until April 5, 2020.  Churches that have a weekly attendance of 50+ will be required to suspend all gatherings until further notice.  This includes weddings, funerals, and other social gatherings.  There is no debate or question about this. We must and will comply with this directive.”
Until further notice Worship at Bethany will be held each Sunday via Zoom at 11:00 am sharp.  The conference line is 1-646-558-8656, and the access code is 197 300 121# . It means that you need to arrive on line a few minutes prior to accommodate timely participation. You will receive further advice regarding bible study at a later date.
Do know that your giving does not need to be affected by this turn of events; you are encouraged to do so by mail or via Zelle by email.
I urge you to stay calm, to take all the necessary precautionary measures and to stay prayerful. Remember none of this is a surprise to God.
God Bless,
Rev. Philips
